Birdie Yum Yums vs. Le Bird

I started a Tumblr blog over at lebird.tumblr.com for all the nonsense that catches my fancy while oot n aboot or while trawling the world wide webs. It's easier to post stuff over there (sorry Blogger) and well, the interface is nicer. I'm going to keep this blog for my crafts. Once I get my sewing machine and start knitting in the colder weather, I'll start posting projects on here. In the meantime, I'll be over there. Why don't ya come see me sometime?

Karin Marita Jones, You Can Hammer My Steel Heart Any Time

My dear friend, the talented and beautiful Karin Marita Jones has a show at Crafthouse Gallery on Granville Island, Vancouver. Went to the opening a couple nights ago and have come to the cold realization how sorely lacking I am in steel. Struck by the gorgeous matte gray steel link chain wrapped round her wrists (nice O's of links yah?), I picture plucking my fruit from one of her deep-bottomed steel bowls with gold inlay - bananas, apples, kiwis, etc. Am wondering how many garments I have to run to pay it off. Maybe a steel thimble with gold inlay? Oooh, good idea!

Back on Myspace

I found I kept going back to Myspace recently to hear music from bands I like whose new albums are not yet released or whose albums I can't find like Florence and the Machine, CSS, Noah and the Whale, Padded Cell, Tilly and the Wall, Marnie Herald, etc. And also to just have quick access to Jesse Malin songs that I don't have. Facebook's iLike app is good but bands still tend to their Myspace profiles like they're precious garden plots in fenced-in neighbourhood gardens. I was missing out. So I wanted back in. Oh dear god, what have I done? I think it'll be okay this time round though. I have no fear of starting any social networking circles with it. I'm just using it as a way to group music I like. Sadly, all past comments from friends are gone since you can't reinstate your old profile, but I think that's actually a good thing. I like how clean my page looks. And yes, I took a page from 14 year old girls around the world and changed my background colour again. But this time instead of hot pink or crown royal purple, it's a mature and understated blue-grey.

Foals and Maps & Atlases

Went to see Foals a couple weeks ago at Richard's in Van. The very capable and excellent t-shirt merched Maps & Atlases opened. My new HTC Touch mobile took the pics, not bad for a little phone. Unforch, the SDcard has since corrupted so I dunno. Previous Motorola Razr fell into the kitty cats' water bowl, oh dearie me.
