Padded Cell

I am going nuts over Padded Cell's electro boogie right now. Cannot stop listening to it. Makes me want to go down the record shop and blow my wad on vinyl and start spinning again. Check out the rolling bass lines on their Myspace page: www.myspace.com/paddedcelldc.

Tom Robinson was playing their latest song, "My Children Sleep Next to the Echo Chamber" on BBC 6 Music today. Man, he and Steve Lamacq and Marc Riley really have it dialed up. Anyhow, how rad is that for a song title?

Long Live Foggy

I am absolutely gutted that Foggy is gone, gone!

David Ryan Adams, this is my little farewell to the wonderful fickle-natured Foggy. I thought it was brilliant and fun and a bright spot to my return to Vancouver from New York. Yes, it was "punk" enough in the way it totally stripped the artifice of whatever celebrity that surrounds this Orion, this spaced-out insane hunter of the skies...or Bleecker Street, whichever or whatever comes first in the day. But who cares if it was punk or not, only that guy who wrote that stupid comment. My kitty cats (real cats not robots, lil kitten rednecks from Orange County, Indiana then Williamsburg then Vancouver) don't care about what's punk or what's not punk enough, and I think they're purrfect (sorry) creatures. They just do their thing and don't give a shit what's cool or what's not.

Foggy, you're going to be missed. And Ryan Adams, yes I am lame and not punk for writing this on my blog but I don't care because it's MY blog and I don't think anyone's reading this anyhow, so okay, where was I...oh yes, Foggy was so rad and I'm sad it's gone but I hope it helped. It was oversharey and you did edit it, understandably, when it showed you at your ragingest saddest loneliest but it also showed us how you're just a person, like the rest of us, albeit an insane/insanely entertaining and intense guy with a broken heart. I have to say it but, is she really worth all this? Isn't this about more than just being left with broken memories? Now you're on your own to wade through all the shit and debris in your life. There may have been a narcissistic quality to all the self-portraits but I loved the dye job in step by step detail and ate it up. We all did, at least all the chicks did.

Maybe one day it'll be back up but in a way, I hope it's done and you can get by making music and writing and painting and making more new things. I cannot wait to hear the new album. "Crossed-Out Name" was gorgeous. Damn, what about the documentary on Paris at night?! Oh Foggy! Rest in peace...

I gotta get on up this betch or rip forever

After all my daily obsessive checkings on foggy, I figure I've been neglecting my own lil bloggy, so i'll be back w/ new pics of Vancouver and more recent ones of NYC and homeez and good food and good times galore.
